from Carl MacKenzie
from Traditional Fiddle Music of Cape Breton
Vol. 3,
Bras d'Or House

This strathspey has been circulating in Cape Breton since the '60s. We known that Dan Hughie MacEachern had a hand written manuscript which he shared with many friends. Carl MacKenzie got his copy from from that source - (indirectly through Doug MacPhee). Stylistically it is reminiscent of something J. Murchdoch Henderson might have composed. Henderson died in 1972. If anyone knows the composer please email us at (info @ cranfordpub.com).

The arrangement above comes from The Cape Breton Scottish Collection where the setting is more based on the playing of Father Angus Morris who, on the Mabou Coal Mines CD, used slightly different phasing than Carl
