John Allan Cameron (
Here Comes John Allan Cameron)

Over the years his tune has been published dozens of times, most frequently as a 6/8 march. The above third turn does differ from most contemporary versions as it pays hommage both to the original 1840s pipe setting by Angus MacKay and from David Glen's 1880s arrangement. The sound clip (slightly different setting) comes from John Allan Cameron.

Note - some have given William Rose credit as the composer, however I can't verify his birthdate (or when he supposedly composed it), and suspect he simply popularized it. We do know that Rose judged the Northern Meeting in 1911. Given the tune's publishing history (starting in the 1840s) if he was the composer, he must have been both very old to be a judge and very young to compose such a classic tune.
