from Stan Chapman
from Traditional Fiddle Music of Cape Breton
Vol. 4, MacKinnon's Brook
In Cape Breton this tune has long been popular in the Washabuck area. Fiddler Stan Chapman has a summer home in that community. McLachlan's Scottish Measure was first published in the 1750s in MacGibbon's Collection and later popularized by the Gows. Our setting comes from The Cape Breton Scottish Collection.
