from Michael Anthony MacLean, Good Boy M.A.

Lord Elcho originally appeared in The Beauties of Niel Gow (1819) in G minor. It is found in that key in The Cape Breton Scottish Collection

In Washabuck, Cape Breton it often went by the name The King's Lament. Noted Gaelic singer and raconteur Neil MacKinnon from Ainslie Glen near Whycocomagh, was known by the sobriquet 'The King'. Whenever, Michael Anthony Maclean and entourage would arrive there for a periodic ceilidh 'The King' would always request that this tune be played as it was his favourite.
