Sean Ryan was one of the most influential 20th century Irish composers. The names of his tunes were apparently not as important to him as the melodies. He recorded the above reel twice in the 1950s - once as Sean Ryan's Favorite and again as Port Gael Linn. Today the most common title is The Dash to Portobello as given in his book, The Hidden Ireland. The Mp3 comes from Milestone at the Garden, Irish Fiddle Masters from the 78 RPM Era, a CD compilation by Rounder Records. It is also heard on Sean Ryan's Double CD
