Dan Hughie MacEachern (1914-1995?) was one of the greatest Cape Breton composers. This tune comes from Dan Hughie's 2nd collection (both of his books are currently out of print). He was fond of the key of Gminor, and although his book had the above jig written in two flats, since Dan Hughie, and most of the old-timers played the majority of their G minor repertoires the Dorian mode, I adjusted the signature to reflect those tastes.

Francis MacDonald (1931-2014) was a fiddler, piper, storyteller, artist, singer and composer. In 2006, he and his son Roddie released Margaree Melodies, a book consisting of both original and traditional fiddle music.
